Last updated: 23 March 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of FemAcademy's online tutoring services. By booking a lesson or using our website, you agree to these Terms.

FemAcademy is a sole trader tutoring business based in London, UK, providing online tuition in Maths, Physics, and MATLAB.

1. Booking and payment

  • No commitment required: Lessons are pay-as-you-go. There is no minimum number of sessions or long-term contract.
  • Payment due: Payment must be received 24 hours before the scheduled lesson.
  • Payment confirms booking: Your lesson is only confirmed once payment has been received.
  • Late payment: If payment is not received 24 hours before the lesson, the session will be cancelled, and you will receive an email confirmation of the cancellation.
  • Accepted payment methods: Bank transfer, PayPal, or other methods as agreed via email.

2. Pricing

Current lesson rates are:

  • GCSE (Maths or Physics): £50 per hour
  • A-Level (Maths or Physics): £70 per hour
  • University (Maths): £80 per hour

Prices are subject to change. Any price changes will be communicated by email at least 2 weeks in advance and will only apply to future lessons (not already-booked sessions).

Student cancellations:

  • More than 24 hours' notice: Full refund or credit toward a future lesson
  • Less than 24 hours' notice: No refund (lesson fee is retained)
  • No-show: No refund

Rescheduling:

If you need to reschedule, contact us as soon as possible with a few alternative times. We will do our best to find a new slot that works for both parties.

Tutor cancellations:

In the rare event that we need to cancel a lesson (due to illness or emergency), you will be notified as soon as possible and offered:

  • A rescheduled lesson at no extra cost, or
  • A full refund

4. Lessons

How lessons work:

  • Lessons are delivered online via Microsoft Teams
  • We use OneNote for shared notes, which you can access after the session
  • If needed, we use Excalidraw for interactive whiteboard work
  • You will need a stable internet connection and a device that can run Microsoft Teams

Lesson length:

  • GCSE: 60 minutes (recommended)
  • A-Level Maths: 60 minutes
  • A-Level Physics: 60 or 90 minutes (depending on your needs)
  • University: We'll discuss the best length in your free intro call

Homework and support:

  • Optional homework can be provided after each lesson
  • You can email questions between sessions, and we will reply when possible
  • If a topic needs more time, we can cover it in the next session

5. Free intro call

Before booking your first lesson, we offer a free introductory video call (15–20 minutes) to:

  • Understand your learning goals and current level
  • Explain how lessons work
  • Answer any questions you have
  • Agree on the best next steps

This call is completely free and has no obligation to book lessons.

6. Results and guarantees

No tutor can guarantee exam results or specific grades. What we can do is:

  • Teach clearly and explain concepts step-by-step
  • Focus on problem-solving and exam technique
  • Help you make steady progress with regular practice
  • Tailor lessons to your exam board and course

Your results depend on many factors, including your effort, attendance, and practice outside of lessons. We are committed to supporting you, but ultimate responsibility for exam performance rests with the student.

7. Conduct and safeguarding

  • We are DBS checked (Disclosure and Barring Service)
  • All lessons are conducted professionally and respectfully
  • We expect students and parents to treat us with respect in return
  • For students under 18, we recommend a parent or guardian is nearby during online lessons (though not required)
  • We reserve the right to terminate the tutoring relationship if there is inappropriate conduct, non-payment, or repeated no-shows

8. Intellectual property

All lesson materials, notes, and resources provided during tutoring remain the intellectual property of FemAcademy. You may:

  • Use them for your own personal study and revision
  • Keep copies of shared OneNote notes

You may not:

  • Redistribute, sell, or share materials with others
  • Use materials for commercial purposes

FemAcademy provides tutoring services to the best of our ability. However, we cannot be held liable for:

  • Exam results or university admissions outcomes
  • Technical issues (e.g., internet outages, software failures)
  • Loss or damage arising from use of third-party platforms (Microsoft Teams, OneNote, etc.)
