Frequently asked questions

Common questions from parents and students.

We meet on Microsoft Teams for a 1-to-1 lesson. We use OneNote for shared notes, which you can access after the session. If you need to write and solve questions live, we can use a shared whiteboard (Excalidraw).

Payment is due 24 hours before the session. Payment also confirms the lesson.

If payment has not come through 24 hours before the session, the lesson will not go ahead. I will cancel the session and send an email to confirm the cancellation.

Yes. Send me a message as soon as you can and suggest a few alternative times. I'll do my best to find a new slot.

Send a message with the subject, level, and what you want to improve. We can then book a free intro video call and agree the best next steps.

I am DBS checked and I have over 10 years of experience tutoring Maths and Physics. I have also taught at university level, and I hold an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). This background helps me plan lessons well and support students with clear steps and strong foundations.

Yes. I cover the main UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR. If you have a topic list or course outline, share it and I will tailor lessons to it.

No tutor can guarantee a grade. What I can do is teach clearly, focus on problem solving and exam technique, and help you make steady progress with regular practice.

You need a device that can run Microsoft Teams, a stable internet connection, and somewhere quiet to work. A notebook and pen can help, but they are not required.

It depends on the level and subject.

GCSE: I recommend 60 minutes.

A-Level Maths: 60 minutes is often enough.

A-Level Physics: I often recommend 90 minutes, depending on your current grade and confidence, as it gives time for explanations and questions.

University: We'll discuss the best length in a free intro video call.

Yes, if you want it. I can send optional homework after the lesson. You can also email me questions between sessions.

Yes. You can email me questions between lessons, and I will reply when I can. If a topic needs more time, we can cover it in the next session.
